Are you struggling with your business software? Do you think you get the most out of your investments?
Many companies do struggle and it’s especially true for small businesses. And there’s a good reason for that: business systems require knowledge and investment – in time and money – to offer a good return. Large enterprises often have a team in place and the money to hire good consultants to support them, but small businesses don’t.
What are small businesses supposed to do? Not only do they often underestimate the required investment, but they can’t spend as much time as they would need in finding a suitable ERP system. That proves to be very costly. I’ve seen it a couple of times. And when they try to correct the mistake they’ve made, it’s sometimes too little too late. Or they have to spend hundreds of thousands to correct it, money they would instead need to get ahead of the competition.
In this age, not investing enough resource in a good ERP implementation or not taking the time to choose the right business software solution is a recipe for disaster and, for reasons I still struggle to explain, managers still believe that business systems are easy to choose, so they make their choice after a 15 minutes research. I might be a little hard here, but it is very close to the truth.
Small Business software made easier
So, what should small businesses do when they don’t have the time nor the money big companies have? This website is a start! My goal here is to align small businesses and make them choose the right system for their needs and make sure they understand what they are getting into. I won’t sell you a system (I don’t sell software anymore, though there are affiliate link from which I’m making money), I will guide you through a proven process and make suggestions based on years of experience.
It’s not always an easy task, but I will give you a direction to make sure you don’t fall in the same trap so many small businesses are.
The biggest mistake small businesses make when choosing a business system?
We are not in 1990 anymore. Stop thinking that purchasing a business software is like buying a car. “They all do pretty much the same, so I’ll just choose the one that looks the cutest at the right price. Oh yeah, I also want power windows. “
Business systems are an essential and integrated part of your company. They not only support the processes, they drive them! This is especially true for ERP systems. Choose the wrong one and it’s the ERP that’s going to decide where your business is going and it might very well decide it’s going into the ditch without asking you!
